So you are a student now. Dozens of hours at the university, plenty of paperwork to do, extra classes, communities and parties till the breakdown. We bet you don’t want to miss a thing. But here is the question: how to cope with such a big amount of tasks when you have only 24 hours a day? And you sometimes need to sleep, too. Not to mention the times when you need to take exams.
Sooner or later you will see the need to arrange your time because you’ll notice that you can’t handle the load and you begin to fail. What’s the way out of this? How to become a perfect student without any efforts? How to ease the suffering?
There is a perfect remedy called time management. Haven’t you heard about this? We doubt. The simple example of time management is the famous “To Do List”. Here you put all the necessary things to do in the nearest future in order. It helps to visualize the situation and to clear your thoughts. You will never miss an important appointment or taking your clothes back from the laundry. So, basically, time management is the process of setting a plan of completing the tasks with minimum time loss and maximum profit.
While your classmates laugh at your new idea to practice time management, keep in mind that it can be a real key to your success. You get a chance to finish more tasks than you expect. Of course, you can be frightened because no one teaches us to manage our time: school curriculum is always ready to tell you the world about Math or Geography but not about getting things done on time. That’s something you need to learn by yourself.
Let’s start with the fact that you really learn to set your priorities. You simply know what should be done first of all and what can wait till tomorrow. Secondly, you do not postpone important things. Now there is a popular word for this situation – procrastination. But when you see a list in front of your eyes, you can’t come to terms with your conscience.
In fact, the list of things to do improves your productivity. You feel something similar to a passion. And you really get satisfaction in the end. Moreover, you can notice that you have a lot of free time. When you have a plan, you don’t get scattered so you go out instead of writing an essay that you were to prepare a week ago.
Rome wasn’t built in a day and you can’t prepare a monthly plan at once. It’s better to begin with your daily schedule. Sit down and write everything you will have to accomplish tomorrow. Estimate how long it will take to complete each of the tasks. When the day is finished, look at the list and you’ll be very surprised with your efficiency. But it is still early to say you can be reluctant about procrastination disease.
Feel free to move to weekly plans completion, then you will be skillful enough to manage a whole month. By the way, the real evidence of time management effectiveness will show up when it comes to the semester results. You will see that your grades are much better now and you haven’t spent ages on it.
Don’t be too severe to yourself. Remember, that “without measure a medicine would become poison”. You are not a machine so you shouldn’t prison yourself in the cage of the schedule. Don’t be too demanding or you will get a lot of stress and finally you will not be able to complete even the simple tasks. Keep in mind that you need to take a rest for some time and just go out and take a walk to relax. It is impossible to do everything in the world and perfectionism can be your worst enemy.
How to find a balance? Well, if you are a student, you should always remember that studying is foremost. So you should take a start here. Look which subjects need more of your attention and which require less effort. Combine your leisure time with a good rest. It’s not too good when you need an extra weekend after your weekend.
Finally, do not forget about motivation. You should reward yourself for your success. Invent something; do the things you have always dreamt about. This is the best way to head to new boundaries. Rule the time and be a real king!
